NC State nails down the commitment of Jamie Lewis

One of the top guard prospects in the south from the 2018 class, Jamie Lewis decided to end his recruitment on Thursday by committing to NC State. A tough, aggressive and confident scorer that can play either guard position, Lewis is a fine start to Kevin Keatts’ first full class in Raleigh.

Playing up for two years on the Nike EYBL circuit and suiting up for one of the more talented high schools in the state of Georgia at Westlake High School, Lewis brings major experience to the ACC program as he spoke further on his commitment. "I loved the school, the new coaching staff, they have been great with me, and also playing my first year, he said. "That was key with me."

Capable of being used in various lineups as both a scorer and as a facilitator, Lewis should excel within Keatts' system and role set for him. "They want to have a high paced game that likes to run and is high intensity on defense," he said. "They want me to come in and play right away. Play the 1 or 2 and be interchangeable."

Needing to replace recent grad-transfer pick-ups of Allerick Freeman and Sam Hunt in the backcourt, Lewis should be capable of stepping in and contributing right away. The Wolfpack did make a nice late pick-up this spring with one-time VCU commit Lavar Batts as the two should be able play off of each other thanks to their size, toughness and two-way abilities.

A top-70 guard that was also considering Baylor, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest, Lewis becomes the first commitment to NC State from the 2018 class, giving the Wolfpack a four-star guard from the rising senior class.
