NBPA Top 100- Friday night session

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Rivals.com hoop team was back in the gym on Friday night as the 2010 NBPA Top 100 Camp moved along. California shooting guard Jabari Brown came to life after a bit of a slow start to camp and he wasn't the only one doing damage.

NBPA Friday evening notables

Jabari Brown, SG, Oakland (Calif.) High- A strong 6-foot-5 shooting guard, Brown would probably be the first to admit that his play had been a little below his usual standards. Friday night, Brown got it rolling, though, and buried a bunch of jumpers and scored on some slashes to the basket. His game isn't fancy, but his right at you style is an easy one to like.

Rodney Purvis, SG/PG, Raleigh (N.C.) Upper Room- Nevermind the fact that he's only a member of the class of 2013, Purvis is easily one of the top guard prospects in attendance. A ferocious athlete who attacks the rim with speed, his body control and ability to shift mid-air is uncanny. He's already a pretty good 12-17 pull-up jump shooter which bodes well for his ability to stretch out his range down the road.

Jarnell Stokes, PF, Memphis (Tenn.) Central- If you are going to get yours as a big man in camp, you have to be aggressive and demand the ball. A beastly guy in the paint, he deserves credit for his ability to blend skill with power. He's relentless and reminds an awful lot of the former "Shaq of the Mac" Gary Trent.

Anthony Davis, PF, Chicago (Ill.) Perspectives- There's not much that Davis can do about how skinny he is right now, but he makes you forget about it with his play. He runs the floor like a shooting guard, is very fluid in his movement and gives you a little bit of everything. He can shoot jumpers comfortably to 15 feet, has a nice jump hook, he rebounds and he's a big time shot rejector. It's all raw instinct right now, but look out once the technique and body catch up.

Amile Jefferson is a guy who is getting discussed as a prospect at both the three and the four but he looks like more of long term face-up four to us. The 2012 product of Wynnewood (Pa.) Friends is pretty quick and has potential as a shooter and passer out of the high post. … Nick Jacobs isn't a guy you are going to classify as an above the rim guy. But, he's strong, crafty around the rim and has a jump hook that doesn't quit. … It took him a few rounds of games to get going, but Gonzaga pledge Gary Bell warmed up a little on Friday. He remains a high level defender on the perimeter, but he is a bit in between positions (point and shooting guard) in both size and style of play. … 2012's Perry Ellis has hit some nice looking jump shots and shows excellent quickness. The 6-foot-7 power forward from Wichita (Kan.) Heights seems set on playing on the perimeter when he does his best damage as a face-up four man. He's not gotten the ball while wide open at times, but he's also got to be more aggressive and take the smaller guys who have been guarding him into the post. …
