NBPA Top 100- Friday morning

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The players were back at it Friday morning at the 2010 NBPA Top 100 camp. After a terrific showing on the opening day of camp, strong man forward Chane Behanan was at it again on Friday morning. Also impressing were guys like Ky Madden, Adjehi Baru, Deuce Bello and more.

NBPA Friday morning notables

Chane Behanan, PF, Bowling Green (Ky.) High- The rate at which he's been able to produce in the lane really defies logic. He's a 6-foot-6, 250 pound brawler who is much quicker than you expect and has terrific footwork. He spins quickly to either shoulder and comes out of his spin ready to score or alertly deliver the ball to cutting teammates. His hands are among the best in the class and he's been virtually unstoppable in Richmond.

Adjehi Baru, C, Richmond (Va.) Steward- It's hard not to smile while watching the lean 6-foot-9 shot blocker. He runs the floor very well, attacks rebounds and plays extremely hard. Even more impressive is his work ethic and the room he has for improvement gives him a very high ceiling.

Derrick Randall, C, South Kent (Conn.) Prep- A solidly built 220 pounder with long arms and excellent timing, Randall has been among the top interior defenders in camp. He likes to play a bit rugged, rebounds his area and sends a message from time to time with a hard foul.

Quddus Bello, SG/SF, High Point (N.C.) Westchester- The 6-foot-4 leaper continued his assault on the grassroots circuit Friday morning and he's likely to make a big jump in the next set of rankings. His handle is greatly improved and he's been connecting on sweet looking pull-up jumpers against tough defense.

Ky Madden, PG/SG, Lepanto (Ark.) East Poinsette- Often paired in the backcourt with Josiah Turner, Madden is a versatile 6-foot-4 ball-handler who can play a variety of positions. He was making noise with pull-up jumpers and drives to the bucket where he either finished or kicked out to teammates for open shots. He does need to add some strength.

More Friday morning notes

Adjusting to the physical nature of college basketball shouldn't be an issue for Julien Lewis. The future Texas Longhorn from LaMarque (Texas) High is a well built 6-foot-3 shooting guard with excellent range on his jumper. He looks like he'll be a good defender down the road as well. … Cody Zeller found himself with a favorable mismatch on Friday morning. The 6-foot-10 center from Washington (Ind.) High was lined up against 6-foot-5 wing Brandan Kearney and he went to work and hit some jumpers over the top of him. He scored, but it was kind of a surprise to not see him look to post up the much smaller Kearney. … Landen Lucas just keeps plugging along and picking up buckets where he can. The 6-foot-8 junior to be has a strong body, knows how to play in the paint and gives a consistent effort. … For the second game in a row South Carolina pledge Anthony Gill had a solid outing. He's got good hands and always seems to find himself in the right place at the right time. …
