NBPA Top 100: Adebayos statement

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- On Friday night, five-star big man Edrice "Bam" Adebayo asserted his dominance. He wasn't unchallenged, though, as four-star power forward Mamadi Diakite stepped up to challenge him during the second half. They were just two of many standouts during the Friday night session of the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
Adebayo and Diakite show out

If there was any doubt about 6-foot-9 power forward Edrice Adebayo being worthy of his No. 8 ranking in the class of 2016, he has gone a long way toward silencing it.
The five-star big man from Washington (N.C.) Northside finished his second straight dominant day of camp with an impressive 22 point, seven rebound outing.
For most of the game, opponents seemed unwilling to try and match his physicality or his athleticism as he went wild around the rim. He finished powerful slams, caught alley oops and even stepped out to shoot a good looking 15 foot jumper from the baseline. It was simply a big time performance from a player who has been proving he belongs as a big time prospect throughout the grassroots circuit.
While Adebayo was a clear standout and mostly untested, Mamadi Diakite did step up late and put up some fight. His numbers of 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks didn't do justice to how well he played.
Diakite doesn't have the same developed body that Adebayo does, but he has a level of quickness and speed in the open court that almost no other big man in the class can match. Rivals.com was aggressive with his ranking during the spring by slotting him at No. 38 nationally and it appears that he may even need to be moved a touch higher.
Virginia has been working extremely hard to land Diakite and it is starting to sound like they have taken the lead in his recruitment.
