Mullins Remains Wide Open

Bryan Mullins, the 6-foot-0, 180-pound point guard from Downers Grove (Ill.) South high school has decided to take his time when it comes to his recruitment. With as many as 30 college institutions currently interested in his services, Mullins will wait until the end of the summer before trimming his list of schools. The No. 22 ranked point guard in the class of 2005 remains wide open and is going to consider all of his options.
“I am still wide open in my recruitment,” Mullins said. “The plan is to play though the month of July before narrowing down my list of schools. Stanford, Purdue, Arkansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Tulane, UMASS, Southern Illinois and Illinois State are just some of the schools that I like, but I don’t have a top five yet.”

Mullins has spent a great deal of time thinking about what schools to visit in the fall. He figures that a number of new schools will approach him with scholarship offers, so he is not ready to make any decisions at this time.
“UIC, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Valparaiso, Ball State, Bowling Green, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Western Michigan are the schools that have offered scholarships,” Mullins said. “I really believe that other schools will offer after they see my play this summer. Several of the schools I have talked to said they would do that.
“As far as my official visits go, I will take as many as I need to take,” he added. “I plan to take all five visits, but if I am ready to decide after one or two visits, I will do just that. I really believe that I will have a better idea at the end of the summer.”
