Mr. Quebec Joins Big Ten Team

Northwestern University has added another player for the 2002-03. Mohamed Hachad, a 6-4, 180-pound guard, accepted an offer of admission to the Big Ten school and has been in classes this summer.
Hachad -- a 6-4, 180-pound guard -- was a two-year member of the basketball team at Champlain/St.-Lambert in Montreal and was voted "Mr. Quebec" last year by a panel of Canadian basketball writers. Champlain was ranked second in Quebec and fifth in Canada in 2000-01, and third in Quebec in 2001-02. Hachad also was captain of the Quebec All-Stars for their game against the Toronto All-Stars.
Hachad's father, Badreddine, played for Morocco's national basketball team, and Hachad was born in Casablanca. He chose Northwestern over -- among others -- Kansas, Baylor, Boston College, Marquette and Kent State.
