Phoenix is a long way from Demarquise Johnson's home in Pontiac, Mich. While it wasn't easy to make the move across the country, it looks to be paying off so far for the junior.

Now attending Westwind Prep, the 6-foot-5 wing is starting to blossom.
"This year went really well, we won the state championship," Johnson told Rivals.com. "I averaged like 21 points, five rebounds and four assists."
An athlete with the game of a scorer, Johnson doesn't mind the label of a guy who puts the ball in the hoop.
"I'm kind of like a Paul Pierce wing," said the No. 145 player in the 2012 Rivals150. "I can shoot, take it to the rim and finish with contact. I need to work on my defense, but my offense is there.
"That's my main goal this summer, to work on my defense."
Plenty of schools have taken notice. According to Johnson, Colorado, Arizona State, San Diego State, Gonzaga, Virginia and Minnesota have offered, while others such as Georgetown and Louisville have been out to see him.
This summer, he'll hit the grassroots circuit with Team Eleate. A decision could come prior to his senior year.
"More than likely I'm going to try and make my decision over the summer," Johnson said. "If I play my freshman year and the fans, you know the atmosphere, are the main two reasons I'll pick a school."
All in all, life has been pretty good for Johnson since leaving his home.
"It's been a good move for me," he said. "In Michigan, I wasn't really known, but now it's starting to come out that I can play. I'm getting better and people are seeing me."
