Monroe down to five

It is down to five schools for Greg Monroe, the No. 1 prospect in the Rivals150. His first official visit begins the first weekend of October, and the 6-foot-10, 226-pound power forward from Harvey (La.) Helen Cox High School is expected to take all five visits.
Home state school LSU will host Monroe the first weekend of October, and then Georgetown gets a shot at him during midnight madness. Duke, Texas and UConn round out the list of five, but official visit dates have not yet been set for those three schools.

"Greg wants to take all five visits unless for some reason he gets in the middle of it and feels its enough," said Helen Cox head coach Tyrone Mouzon. "He does want to finish them by mid-November, but he's not in a rush to sign. He said if it feels right, he'll sign in November. If it doesn't feel right, he'll wait."
Greg Monroe scouting report:
A smooth athlete at 6-foot-10, Monroe has an all around skill package that is only going to get better. The lefty has great court awareness and passes the ball extremely well. He is extending his shooting range and is developing scoring moves going to his right. When going to his left, he is a force. Strong on the boards and a shot blocking threat, Monroe also has the quickness to guard on the perimeter. A year younger than most prospects in his class, Monroe has an extremely high ceiling.
