Monk Commits To Arkansas

Marcus Monk, the 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward from East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto, AR., has given a commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Coach Houston Nutt and Coach Stan Heath offered him the opportunity of a lifetime, so he could not turn it down. Monk accepted a football scholarship from Arkansas, but will join the basketball team once the football season is complete.
“Yes, I’ve committed to Arkansas. They offered me a football scholarship, but I will also played basketball,” Monk said. “This is really a great opportunity me for. Two or three years ago, I would have never thought about playing college football, but I really have a love for the game.

“I was also considering Ole Miss, Boston College, Stanford, Penn State and a few others, but Arkansas was the first school to offer me the opportunity to play both sports,” he added.
Rivals.com ranks Monk No. 131 on the Rivals150 list and the 28th best small forward in the class of 2004. He intends to sign during the early period.
