Monceaux stays upbeat during recovery

Jeremy Monceaux, a 6-1, 170 pound point guard from from Parkway Christian Academy in Birmingham, AL, will be having a quieter summer than normal.
Monceaux injured his knee at the Rumble in the Bronx last month. The injury was more serious than first thought. A "twisted knee" was recently diagnosed as a minor ACL tear, which was corrected via arthroscopic surgery on Monday.

"The doctor said recovery should take about 4-5 months, but I can probably start light exercise by September," Monceaux said. "I can work on my upper body strength now, and of course there's rehab."
The news of the injury didn't stop colleges from calling on June 21st, the first day juniors could be directly contacted by Division I coaches.
"I got lots of calls," he said. "Probably about 60 to 70 even though they knew about the injury."
"I'm more wide open now," Monceaux said. He previously told the Insiders Report that he was looking at Auburn, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama and Missouri, with NC State and Auburn at the top.
"Basically, I'm considering the ACC and SEC schools. I want to stay in those conferences if I can," Monceaux added.
This polite young man is disappointed that he'll miss the July camps. But Jeremy's tone would indicate that he's trying to make the best of the situation.
And his recovery schedule should have him "hopping" by the time the high school season starts. Last year's production -- 36.2 points, 11 assists and four rebounds. Can bet his PCA coaches and teammates are hoping this happens!
