Monceaux has top two

Jeremy Monceaux is a top scorer from Parkway Christian Academy in Birmingham, Alabama. The 6-1, 170 pound point guard was named to the 2001 Super All-State first team as he led PCA to 28-4 record this past season.

He averaged 36.2 points, 11 assists and four rebounds last season. "I don't need to do much rebounding," he added. Surprisingly, he's not that much of a three-point shooter. "I penetrate to score and dish out," Monceaux observed. "And I get fouled a lot. Shot 86 percent from the foul line this past season."

Monceaux is looking at Auburn, Geargia Tech, North Carolina State, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama and Missouri. He's scheduled to visit Georgia Tech and Auburn by next week. "I'll visit NC State soon too, but my dad handles that."

NC State and Auburn are pretty even at the top of his list right now. "I grew up an Alabama fan but things change when you look at a future college," he noted. "I'd like to make the decision as soon as I can."

Monceaux said that playing time won't be that big of a factor when he chooses a school. "I want to go to a successful program; one that has top 25 caliber," he said. The facilites have to be nice and clean. "I guess I get that from my mother," he added.

Educational opportunites will be important though he doesn't have a major yet. "And of course, I want to go where I fit in," Monceaux observed.

Monceaux plays with the Tallahassee Wildcats. "I'll be at the Rumble in the Bronx next week, the NBPA camp at the end of the month and the Nike All-American camp in July," he said. "We play all the Nike events and we'll be at the Super Showcase and AAU Nationals at the end of July."
