Mohamed Abukar, a 6-foot-9, 195-pound combination forward from Rancho Bernardo (CA) High School, has committed to Florida, according to a source close to Abukar.
Abukar made his phone calls to the Florida and Kentucky staffs shortly before 5 PM ET. During these phone calls, according to a source close to Abukar, Mohamed gave the word of his decision to each of the coaching staffs.
Abukar had taken official visits to both schools. He praised each coaching staff after his visits. Abukar will officially let the media know around 5:30 PM ET, 2:30 West Coast time. Abukar had also considered at one time in his recruiting process Louisville, UCLA, Missouri, and Georgia Tech. But Florida and Kentucky have been the two strongest schools since Abukar asked for his release from the Georgia basketball program.
