MLK Shackles Paterson Catholic in Philly

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. --Martin Luther King shut down two of Paterson Catholic's big weapons in a 54-43 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Scholastic Play by Play Classic.
MLK held PC's dangerous junior tandem of 6-4 Marquis Webb and 6-10 Darryl Watkins to just seven points each.

Meanwhile, senior forward Darron Bradley scored 19 points for the victors.
Trailing 17-13 after a quarter, MLK opened up a 32-20 halftime lead.
Bradley, an athletic 6-5 senior who had impressed us this past summer with John Hardnett's Sonny Hill All-Star, then helped the Cougars amass a 48-24 lead late in the third quarter.
A 16-4 spurt to open the third quarter essentially put the game out of reach, with Bradley scoring six of the final eight points in the run.
Paterson Catholic made a run in the fourth quarter, but got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Senior point guard Raheem Scott chipped in eight points and 6-9 junior forward/center Wayne Marshall added six points for King.
Sadir Mitchell paced PC with 11 points. Watkins was ineffective for much of the contest, collecting a pair of personal fouls in the opening 55 seconds that rendered him unavailable for much of the first half.
