Mitchell Talks About Recruitment, NBA

Tasmin Mitchell, the No. 1 ranked player in the class of 2005, has not seen many changes occur when it comes to his recruitment. The 6-foot-7, 220-pound small forward from Denham Springs (La) High School remains wide open, but Kentucky and LSU still sit atop his list. Mitchell indicated that Oklahoma and UCLA have contacted him as well.
“Its still pretty much LSU and Kentucky when it comes to my recruitment,” Mitchell said. “Coaches from Oklahoma and UCLA have contacted me, but I have not talked to them as much as Kentucky and LSU. I am wide open right now and am going to look at all of my options, but LSU and Kentucky are the teams to beat.

“LSU, Kentucky, Oklahoma and UCLA are schools that I would like to visit,” he added. “I don’t know what school I will visit for my fifth visit, but I do plan to take all five. That is something I will think about when the time comes for me to do so.”
Mitchell, the Nations No. 1 overall player and No. 1 small forward openly admitted that the NBA is something he will consider if the opportunity arises at the end of his senior year. While making the jump to the league is something Mitchell doesn’t spent a lot of time thinking about, it has entered his mind.
“I am open to going to the NBA after high school, but it’s not something I am going to worry about right now,” he added. “I know that I might not be the most athletic player in this class, but Larry Bird wasn’t the most athletic player during his time, but everybody knows what type of player he turned out to be.
“If the NBA is an option for me after high school, that is something I will definitely consider,” he added. “I just want to make sure that I consider all of my options and do what I can do make the best decision possible for myself.”
