Mitchell getting used to attention

Alvin Mitchell, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound small forward from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was one of the nice surprises of the July period. The muscular and athletic wing for Team Breakdown is now seeing the after effects of good play.
Mitchell earned his keep the old fashioned way – with hard work, good play and solid basketball. There is little fan fare about him and the recruiting process has caught him off guard, but in a good way he says.

"It's getting crazy. There are new people calling me every day. But the good part about it is that you can't have enough of that," Mitchell said. "I didn't think the process would be like this. Everything has been so quick. I thought it would have been slower than this. Everything has gone so fast."
Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Florida, St. John's, Missouri and Virginia Tech all jumped into the picture in a hurry. He said all but the Gators have offered.
Mitchell will take an official visit to Virginia Tech on Sept. 24 and is in the process of setting up official visits with Rutgers and St. John's.
"I'm going to take all five of my visits. I'm pretty familiar with everyone but Rutgers. That is why I want to go up there so I can see what they are all about," Mitchell said. "Then I'll sit down and evaluate everything and go from there."
Outside of hoops, Mitchell said he'll keep a watchful eye of the college surroundings and how well he'd adapt to the location he could be living in.
"Every school has a good computer program in college so it will come down to where I feel the most comfortable and how the town is," Mitchell said. "I'm kind of a laid back guy and finding a place that is like that is going to be it for me. This is my future we're talking about."
