Tyler Chaney, an athletic 6-3, 205 pound swingman from Neosho H.S. in Neosho, Mo., has displayed solid all-around basketball game here at the Great American Shootout this weekend.
A member of the underrated Springfield Heat program, Chaney impressed us with his explosiveness in attacking the rim and general unselfish team play. Probably his most glaring shortcoming is lack of foot speed and lateral quickness, which will make it difficult for him to defend quicker opponents out on the wing.

Chaney told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered a scholarship by SW Missouri State. In addition to SMS (where he has unofficially visited), Creighton, Southern Illinois, Wichita State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nevada-Reno and Tulsa are also eyeballing him this summer.
This past season, Chaney averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block per contest. He said he carries a 3.3 GPA and scored a 17 on the ACT.
Following the Great American Shootout, Chaney will wind down the summer at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas and Tom Tietze Tournament in Kansas.
We'll be out in Las Vegas next week, and we'll keep you posted on Chaney's play, so stay tuned.
