Mississippi Athlete Sporting Two Offers

Roderick Ollie, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Gentry High School in Moorehead, Miss., has been solid in a handful of tournaments this spring. He’s received interest from mid-majors and hopes to strike a cord with more programs this summer.
“I think I played well in North Carolina at the Tournament of Champions,” Ollie said. “And then I did alright last week at the one at the University of Alabama.”

Ollie was instrumental in the Jackson Panthers’ run to the championship game of the Challenge in the South. He displayed a nice scoring touch from behind the three point line and above average athleticism off the dribble. Ollie said those are his strengths.
“I’m mostly a slasher that can shoot and loves to play above the rim,” he said. “I guess you could say I’m a high-riser.”
Ollie said Lousiana Tech, North Texas, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State and Alabama State have shown an interest. He’s sporting scholarship offers from Louisiana Tech and North Texas.
“I don’t have any official visits set up right now but I think I’ll probably go to Louisiana Tech next weekend,” Ollie said. He will attend Southern Miss and Ole Miss’s camps, too. He can make official trips because he has taken the SAT and has a qualifying score. There is one school he’d like to receive interest from, too.
“I grew up watching Memphis,” Ollie said. “I’d really like to be recruited by them.”
Ollie’s Jackson Panthers team will play at the Super Showcase and the AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
