The Mission Prep Holiday Classic featured top-level talent from throughout the state and nationally. Ryan Anderson scored 32 points as Oak Ridge defeated Washington Union of Fresno to advance to the championship of the Elite Team Division. The Trojans face Mission Prep, who defeated Price of Los Angeles in the other semifinal. There were several excellent individual performances, with Northern California players leading the way.

"We are trying to get the best quality of teams from throughout the state and a good sprinkling from throughout the nation," said Tom Mott, head coach of Mission Prep. "We started this tournament seven years ago with 15 teams and now we are up to 30. By doubling it, we are giving a lot more teams the opportunity to play."
Here is a brief breakdown on some of the top performancers from Northern California:
Jeremy Lin, 6-foot-2 Senior Guard, Palo Alto - Lin played very well at the tournament for the Vikings. As the primary ballhandler and leading scorer, he was able to pick his spots and score or set up his teammates for easy scores. He willed his team to victory behind his jump shot and competitive nature. He will be a solid guard at the low Division I level.
Stephen Brown, 6-foot-6 Senior Wing forward, Palo Alto - As the second scoring option for the Vikings, Brown is a very deadly jump shooter with range. While he has range from deep, he has problems creating his own shot off the dribble. Right now, he is a low division I prospect. However, this may change with additional strength and skill work. He may also be looking at the prep school option, which should increase his recruitment.
Ryan Anderson, 6-foot-10 Senior Post, Oak Ridge - Anderson is the go-to guy for Oak Ridge. The Cal-commit might be the most impressive player at the tournament behind future Cardinal adversaries, the Lopez Twins. Anderson scored on three pointers, moves off the dribble, and in the low block. He was the primary reason the Trojans advanced to the Championship game of the Elite Division. Anderson may be the most impressive post player in the state and his play makes Oak Ridge the favorite to return to the state Division II Championship game.
Tyler Smith, 6-foot-4 Senior Guard, Nevada Union - Smith is a long and wiry wing, who showed the ability to hit the jumper. He has some solid looks from low level D1s such as Montana, which recently came in to see him practice. He also has offers from various Division II schools but needs to get stronger and pick up some weight.
Scott Nittler, 6-foot-7 Junior Post, Campolindo - Nittler is a long 6-foot-7 post player who provided a nice scoring punch for Campolindo. He runs the floor very well, but he is at his best banging down low. With a solid ability to hit the mid range jumper and another year of school, Nittler will be a player to watch for local area Division 1 colleges.
Adam Chavis, 6-foot-5 Senior Guard, Casltlemont - Chavis is a tough competitor who does what is asked him of him. A strong wing, Chavis battled down low for points in the paint, hit jumpers on the wing and showed why he may be the best player in the Oakland Athletic League. Chavis is a Division I talent whose recruitment should pick up as the season continues.
Bennie Rhodes, 6-foot-6 Senior Guard, Castlemont - Rhodes is a very athletic guard who has game-changing ability. Long and wiry, Rhodes showed the ability to create his own shot, get to the basket and finish, while filling in at times at the point guard spot. He is a high major talent who is finally starting to put it all together.
Eddie Johnson, 6-foot-5 Junior Forward, James Logan - Johnson is a workhorse of a player who battled strong in the paint. Right now, he is a post player who has the ability to move out and hit the 15-foot jump shoot. Johnson ran he floor, rebounded and made things happen for the Colts.
Other Performers of Note:
Kenny Boynton, 6-foot-1 freshman guard from Ely High School (FL) - Boynton is a strong physical guard who looks like a young DaJuan Wagner. He scored 26 points against Crenshaw, and will be a player to watch on the national scene for the next four years.
Brook Lopez, 7-foot Senior Center, San Joaquin Memorial (CA) - Committed to Stanford. Brook, who will be a delight for Cardinal fans, plays like a young Kevin Garnett. He can hit the three and he has the ability to score off the dribble. With his skill set and the coaching at Stanford, he will be a pro in a few years.
Robin Lopez, 7-foot Senior Power Forward, San Joaquin Memorial (CA) - Committed to Stanford. Robin is more of a traditional center than his twin brother in that he is more of a banger who has the ability to alter a game with his knack for blocking shots, which greatly impacts games. With the combination of Robin and Brook, Stanford should win a few PAC-10 championships and a trip to the Final Four very soon.
Quincy Pondexter, 6-foot-8 wing Senior forward. San Joaquin Memorial (CA) - Committed to Washington. Pondexter, who showed off several ESPN type dunks, is the heart and soul of the Panthers. A long wing who should become an immediate starter at Washington next year, he needs to work on his jump shot and moves off the dibble, but he is a high-level player with great athleticism.
James Harden, 6-foot-6 Junior Wing, Artesia (CA) - Harden is a very skilled wing who can create with the dribble and has a solid jumper and knack for making things happen. A strong rebounder from the wing, Harden is the best player on a loaded Artesia squad and will one of the higher recruited wings in the west in his class.
Malik Story, 6-foot-5 sophomore wing, Artesia (CA) - Verballed to USC. Story showed the ability to hit the three and get to the basket. He is an Aaron Affalo type guard, who is one of the top sophomores in the country. With three years of high school eligibility remaining, he will be one of the better players in the country when he graduates.
Ryan Anderson, 6-foot-4 Senior Shooting Guard, Rainer Beach (WA) - Signed to Nebraska. Anderson is Richard Hamilton-like with a knock down jumper. If left open, it is lights out, but he has trouble creating his own shot and he also needs to get stronger.
Trevon Willis, 6-foot-3 Shooting Guard, Washington Union (CA) - Signed to Memphis. Willis is a deadly jump shooter who is very athletic. His athleticism has been hampered with shin splits so he is only playing at 80 percent. Playing point guard for Washington Union, Willis made several spectacular passes to keep his team in the game.
Luis Santiago, 6-foot-7 Junior Power Forward, Mission Prep (CA) - Santiago is an undersized four man who would be a steal at a mid major school. With a Sean May type of body, Santiago is a banger who gets things done around the basket. Blessed with soft hands, he has the ability to use his body to create space in the low post area. Since he is only a junior, he will improve and be a player to watch in Central California.
Brett Goodwell, 6-foot-6 Senior Power Forward, Westchester (CA) - Goodwell is a rugged rebounder who is one of the reasons the Comets are back as a national power. He does all the dirty work in the paint, from rebounding to scoring in the low block. Think Julius Thomas of Tokay, who is headed to Portland State. Goodwell might just be a tad more athletic and should end up at a Division I at the end of the year.
Traveion Finnister, 6-foot-1 Senior Guard, Crenshaw (CA) - A stocky guard who makes plays, Finnester is a Khalid Al-Emin clone, who is a strong combo guard who follows the tradition of great guards out of Crenshaw.
