Minnoy Receives First Offer

Nate Minnoy has seen a number of college basketball institutions become involved in his recruitment throughout the course of his junior year, but until recently, most of the schools were inquiring about the 6-foot-3, 220-pound small forward/shooting guard from Hales Franciscan High School in Chicago, IL. While a number of schools are still in the evaluation process of his recruitment, Minnoy has received a scholarship offer from Northern Iowa.
“DePaul, Illinois, Marquette, Purdue, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Western Illinois are the schools most interested in Nate,” Hales Franciscan High School head coach Gary London said. “Northern Iowa has been the only school to offer him a scholarship, but a lot of schools are starting to show some level of interest. I receive a lot of mail from different schools each day, but nothing serious has materialized yet.

“Marquette assistant coach Bo Ellis has called and asked about Nate, so I think there is a definite interest from them,” he added. “I know Nate wants to take some visits in the fall, but it’s really too early to tell what schools he will officially visit. I assume that he will take all five visits, but I don’t know that for sure.”
With the AAU summer circuit approaching, Minnoy is hoping to catch the attention of college coaches’ at the high major level. The 6-foot-3 small forward/shooting guard spent a great deal of time improving his perimeter skills this year, but Minnoy is still working to become a complete player.
“Nate has been invited to attend the Nike All-American Camp and the ABCD Camp,” Coach London said. “We have talked about each of the camps, but he hasn’t told me which one he is going to attend. Aside from those two camps, Nate will spend the summer traveling with the Illinois Fire. He is really looking forward to this summer. Nate has really shown a lot of improvement and I think people will take notice of that.”
Rivals.com ranks Minnoy No. 76 on the Rivals100 list.
