Charles Prescott has seen two schools emerge as the teams to beat in his recruitment. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound point guard from Deer Valley High School in Antioch, Calif., is still interested in seven basketball institutions, but was quick to admit that two schools in particular have picked up their interest in the California native.

“A lot of new schools have been sending me mail and showing some interest in me, but Minnesota and Florida State are the two schools that I really like,” Prescott said. “Those two schools have been sending more mail than any other schools. Those schools have also made it a point to contact me whenever they possibly can.
“I would still like to take some official visits in the fall, but I can tell you right now that Minnesota and Florida State are the teams to beat when it comes to my recruitment,” he added. “I really like the coaching staffs from each program and feel that each school has a lot to offer.”
Prescott, the No. 131 ranked player in the class of 2005, is still waiting for his first scholarship offer. The California native firmly believes that several schools would have offered by this time, but Prescott realizes that it is only a matter of time before a school pulls the trigger.
“I am still waiting for schools to offer me a scholarship,” Prescott said. “I feel that I played real good last week in a tournament out in Los Angeles. We took second place and I started from the very beginning. I leave for Las Vegas on July 22, so I hope that some coaches continue to watch me play.
“I know that schools are eventually going to offer me a scholarship,” he added. “A lot of schools are interested in me, so it’s really only a matter of time before that happens.”
Aside from Minnesota and Florida, Prescott is also interested in Pacific, UCLA, Saint Mary’s Ca, CS Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara.
