Mims Trims List to Two

After visiting South Carolina last weekend, Ralph Mims decided to end his recruitment. But the 6-foot-2 combo guard didn’t commit to the Gamecocks; he only solidified their chances of landing the Brunswick (ME) star. Mims trimmed his list down to two schools and now waits on the results of his SAT before making a decision.
Mims was originally going to visit Minnesota on November 8th but decided he saw enough from his two official visits already to call off his trip to the Big Ten school, leaving USC and Florida State as his two possibilities.

“I’m not aiming for staying up north so that’s why I decided not to go to Minnesota (for a visit),” Mims said. “All of my options are going down South.”
Those options were made clearer after watching USC practice twice as well as taking in the sights of Columbia. Mims said he is ready to head back to the South for basketball as well as the famous southern charm. The Pensacola, FL native has raved about the Seminoles but still is unsure of what direction he wants to go.
With his visits behind him, he now plays the waiting game. He’ll receive his SAT results on November 1. That will be the telling sign of his future. With the signing day two weeks after that, the timetable will be short.
“Right now, I’m just playing my cards and seeing who is more serious,” Mims said. “I’m just thinking about what I saw at both places, too.”
Mims, who is the starting quarterback of his 6-1 football team, knows a little something about plan B. In the event his test scores are under par, Mims said he has also considered a prep school.
“If (the scores aren’t high enough), I’ll probably go to a prep school but I really don’t want to,” he said.
In meantime, stay tuned to RivalsHoops.com for more details of his recruitment.
