Millers back on the market

College basketball is a very fluid microcosm. A shooting touch can be
lost and then reappear. Playing time can come and go. The same with an athletic scholarship. Antioch's (Calif.) Eddie Miller just found out about the latter.

After reaching a verbal agreement with UC Davis in August to ink a letter-of-intent come the November 8-15 signing period, Miller recently had the offer withdrawn.
It's all about coinage.
Apparently, Davis Coach Gary Stewart determined that a combination of rising UC tuition costs and some existing players going from partial to full athletic scholarships diddn't leave the funds
necessary to sign Miller in November.
That puts the 6-foot-4 shooting guard, who sports a 3.9 grade point average and
averaged a double-double during both the season and the playoffs for Antioch High last season, back among the available prep players.
Antioch Coach Drew Torres describes Miller's game. "[Eddie] has good outside-shooting range, the ability to attack the rim and wants the ball at the end of the game," said Torres. "He has hit numerous
game-winning shots for us."
Expected to play the shooting guard position or the wing in college, Miller is currently being courted by Portland and UC San Diego, while receiving mail from Air Force. Portland loses star backcourter Darren Cooper after this season and the Tritons out of San Deigo will have two senior guards departing.
Miller, who recently played with the San Ramon Valley players on a team that beat Monte Vista (and star Cory Higgins) is naturally disappointed but is moving on and looking for a strong academic school that can use his talents on the basketball court.
