Miller, McCants Spark New Hampton

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- Wes Miller scorched the opposing defense for seven three-pointers and Rashad McCants dropped in 33 points to lift New Hampton Prep past IMG, 102-70, at the 2002 National Prep Invitational held on the campus of Bryant College.
Miller hit for six of the seven three-pointer to help New Hampton open up a narrow first half lead. After the first 20 minutes of play, New Hampton only had a 45-41 lead. McCants had 22 of his game-high 33 points in the first half.

One of the main reasons why New Hampton could not shake IMG of Florida was the play of point guard, Mark Williams, who hit for 20 points of his own in the first half. Williams finished the game with 28 points.
But Miller got it going from the outside. The underpublicized point guard banged in threes from each corner and a couple from the top of the key to deflate any IMG comeback.
Miller finished the game with 21 points. Michael Clarke had 11 points and Donatis Rackauskas had nine points for the winners. Renaldo Baldman, a junior for IMG, was also impressive. He scored 14 points in defeat.
McCants, who has signed with North Carolina, had a nice balanced offensive game. McCants scored points inside the paint and also on the perimeter. McCants had four three-pointers of his own.
