Mikalauskas to ACC School

Lithuanian native and 2005 prospect Laurynas Mikalauskas has taken his name off the board by committing to an ACC school. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward, has been playing basketball in America for three years at Blue Ridge High School in St. George, Virginia and runs with Boo Williams in the summer.
“Laurynas just committed to Virginia,” said Coach Boo Williams. “I’m not sure if he even visited there, but he is a big strong body that will play tough in the middle and be an asset for Virginia. He will be a really good pick up for them in the long run.”

During the Boo Williams event a week ago, Mikalauskas listed several schools including Virginia but said that North Carolina and Kansas were his favorites. He listed offers from Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and West Virginia.
He had only officially visited Virginia and said he was planning one for Virginia in the near future.
Before suffering an eye injury, Mikalauskas played well for Boo Williams in the Charlie Weber this past weekend. In one game he scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in only 18 minutes of play. He should be back in action next weekend at the Kingwood Classic.
“He is a good kid who plays hard and gets after it,” said Coach Williams. “He really does a good job.”
