Middle Atlantic Top 100 Recap
With the high school hoops season all but wrapped up, sans the various local and national all star games, our attention now turns to the camp and AAU circuit. This past weekend Rivals.com was on the campus of Loyola College in Baltimore, MD for the Hoop Group's always popular Middle Atlantic Top 100 Camp. The event typically draws many of the top players from Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA, and this weekend was no exception. Here's a look at some of the elite-level participants.
Class of 2006

6-foot-7 190 pound WF from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA. Eversley had a breakout camp and may have emerged as one of the more sought after wingmen in the class of 2006. He is a senior on the Hargrave varsity high school squad, and is probably going to do an extra year of prep school, possibly at Hargrave again. Smooth athlete with a thin build. Excellent passer and finisher on the break. Shooting is a question mark.
Hillary Haley
6-foot-6 205 pound WF from Friendly HS in Fort Washington, MD. Haley provided the fireworks on Friday night with a series of thunderous dunks in transition. He, at times, looked dominant and now plays the game with a physicality that we hadn't seen from him in the past. Certainly a player to keep an eye on this spring.
Mike Ringgold
6-foot-6 195 pound WF from Roman Catholic HS in Philadelphia, PA. We've seen Ringgold in the past and he was the same efficient assassin around the basket. Loves to slash baseline and has excellent body control. Can put it on the floor and drive, and does a good job distributing the ball when the defense collapses. Shooting has been hot and cold. Improvement in this area could determine how high he goes.
Bobby Shannon
6-foot-5 190 pound G/F from Potomac HS in Maryland. Shannon's reputation as a human highlight reel preceded him on Saturday and he did not disappoint. We counted 11 dunks in the second game we watched, many of them spectacular displays of athletic ability. Reminds us a lot of Hassan Adams in terms of body type and the way he attacks the basket. He was the Player of the Year in Prince George County as a junior after helping to lead Potomac to a perfect 27-0 record and the Maryland 2A state championship. Shannon will need to prep after his senior season , so he'll eventually be in the Class of 2007.
6-foot-9 230 pound PF from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. Summers coasted through much of the action on Saturday, but he still showed flashes of the big time potential that makes him a hot target among ACC and Big East coaches. Buried several threes, dominated the glass, and ran the floor and finished inside with gusto. The ceiling is high with Summers in terms of ability, his attitude and competitive drive will determine how good he eventually becomes. Was the Baltimore Sun's All Metro Player of the Year after averaging 20.4 points and 11.6 rebounds this past winter.
Class of 2007
Donte Green
6-foot-9 210 pound C/F from Towson Catholic in Towson, MD. Green is one of the more promising young big men in the middle atlantic region, and his skills were on full display on Saturday. Long-armed with good rebounding instincts and the ability to get up and down the floor. We like that he has the ability to step out and bury the mid-range jumper, but doesn't spend the majority of his time on the perimeter. Has heavy ACC and Big East interest already.
Johnny Higgins
6-foot-2 185 pound 2G from Randallstown HS in Randallstown, MD. Led Randallstown to a 26-1 record and the Maryland 3A state championship this season. Gifted scorer blessed with a fantastic first step and excellent upper body strength. Very difficult to stop one on one at this level. Good perimeter shooter, though his shot selection and willingness to share the ball are areas that need improvement.
Bradley Wanamaker
6-foot-3 180 pound PG from Roman Catholic HS in Philadelphia, PA. Wanamaker has developed nicely into a talented lead guard. A quick, confident playmaker, he sees the floor well, and can break down defenders off the dribble. Has the ability to play off the ball, but is at his best with the rock in his hands. Needs to develop a reliable jumpshot to keep the defense honest at the next level.
Class of 2008
Sean Mosely
6-foot-4 200 pound G/F from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, MD. Mosely had an incredible first season in the Baltimore Catholic League averaging 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. He also led St. Frances to victory in the Catholic League Tournament while becoming the first freshman ever to claim tournament MVP honors. Mosely is very athletic player with excellent inside/outside skills. Very productive and always involved in the action. The question with Mosely is, "where does he peak?" If his work ethic can match his considerable talents, the results in a couple of years could be scary.
Henry Sims
6-foot-9 200 pound C from Mt. St. Joseph's HS in Baltimore, MD. Sims is the guy keeping most Baltimore hoops sages from declaring Mosely as the top freshman prospect. The reason is 6-foot-9 inches of quick, raw shot-blocking potential who's shown no signs that he's done growing. What we could be looking at is a future 7-footer who's a great athlete and just scratching the surface in terms of skills development. Definitely a player to file away for future consideration.
