Michigan State impresses Wright

Chris Wright of Madison High School in Trotwood, Ohio, is one of the better athletes in the class of 2007. The 6-foot-6, 202-pound combo forward has taken a couple unofficial visits this fall in the state of Michigan, and one of those visits really stood out.
"I had a really nice visit to Michigan State," said Wright, the No. 29 ranked prospect in the class of 2007. "I like talking to Coach Izzo. The players are cool to talk to also.
"And with the fans, the atmosphere is unbelievable. They love the team and really care about the players even though it is football season. While we were walking through the campus to the football game, they were cheering for us and everything."
Wright has also visited Michigan, and although he enjoyed the visit, it did not compare favorably to the Michigan State visit.
"The Michigan visit was okay," he said. "But it wasn't as exciting as the Michigan State visit."
This weekend Wright will take the ACT for the first time and then will visit Illinois on one of the following weekends.
When it comes to his school list, seven schools make the cut. Joining Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State are Texas, Dayton, Miami and Florida.
Looking to play in an up tempo system that also emphasizes defense, Wright believes he will be able to contribute at either forward position.
"I see myself as a small forward, but if my team needs me to play power forward, I am more than ready to play wherever I am needed," he said. "My perimeter game has come a long way since the summer. My jumper is better, and I'm stronger. We are in the weight room four days a week."
