Michigan State adds a second in 2013

As it turns out, the loss of one Big Ten school will be another's gain.
After signing with Minnesota during the early signing period, senior wing Alvin Ellis will now play his college ball for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.

A 6-foot-4 wing from Chicago (Ill.) DeLaSalle, Ellis asked for his release from the Gophers when Tubby Smith was let go.
Ellis is a three-star prospect and solid wing performer. He is a good athlete who can play the two or the three and he is a capable jump shooter and defender.
The second player to sign with Michigan State during the spring, Ellis joins Rivals150 forward Gavin Schilling of Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep in the Spartans signing class. The duo will arrive in East Lansing with some experience playing together after being teammates during their junior year of high school.
The signing was announced via press release from Michigan State.
