Messy May Be Out For Year

Emanuel Messy, a 6-7, 210 pound power forward from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J., might not play this season for the Gray Bees.
At this past weekend's Lehigh Valley Hoop Festival, the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com caught up with St. Benedict's Head Coach Danny Hurley, and he indicated that Messy probably won't play this season.

"He will not play this season," Hurley said. "He is doing some things to heal his foot."
Messy has indeed been out all year with a stress fracture in his foot. He also broke his hand at one point, but it is the foot problem that has proven more vexing.
Hurley said that Fordham has been the most aggressive college in terms of recruiting Messy. He had also seen interest in the fall from New Mexico, UMass and Arkansas, but those schools seemed to have cooled a bit on Messy, Hurley said.
"He's in a great position to get the core, but he needs the SAT," Hurley added.
A native of Canada, Messy played last year at the Winchendon School in Massachusetts. He is blessed with a good basketball body and athleticism that helps him to be effective around the basket.
Messy will most likely sign in the spring, and we'll keep you posted on his situation.
