Mendiburu a Pure PG

He might not be mentioned among the top sophomore point guards in junior college basketball, but 6-4, 200 pound Javier Mendiburu of Indian Hills C.C. in Iowa is a rock solid floor general who merits some Division I recruiting attention.
For whatever reason, college recruiters have not been beating down Mendiburu's door, according to Indian Hills Asst. Coach Chad Boudreau.

Perhaps it's because the native of Badalona, Spain, didn't attend any junior college exposure events this summer. He was in Spain during the July evaluation period while many other rising JUCO sophs were attending camps run by Rick Ball, Jerry Mullen and Kenn Littlefield.
Once the early signing period is over and coaches begin to scour the JUCO ranks for help at the point guard position, Mendiburu could become a popular target.
At the recent Central Missouri State Jamboree, Mendiburu displayed a good feel for the game. He sees the floor very well and throws textbook accurate passes. The only thing we weren't sure he could do was score, as he rarely looked for his own shot in the game Rivalshoops.com evaluated.
As a freshman last year for Indian Hills, Mendiburu averaged eight points and eight assists per contest. He plans to sign in the spring, and Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on his recruitment, so stay tuned.
