Memphis point guard lights it up
By doing what he's supposed to do as a teammate, Chris Chiozza is seeing things take off on a personal level. Now, the junior point guard is one of the most sought-after players in the country.
A product of Memphis (Tenn.) White Station, the 5-foot-10 point guard who ranks No. 90 nationally in the 2014 Rivasl50 is a true point guard who has seen his stock skyrocket.

"I've just been trying to help make my team win," Chiozza told Rivals.com. "I've picked up all of these scholarships from the big Division I schools, and I didn't think that was going to happen."
It isn't like the four-star was hurting for offers before his recent play. A month ago, Chiozza held offers from places like Missouri, Richmond, UMass, Auburn, Ole Miss and Murray State.
Quick and decisive with the ball, Chiozza can run a team or be a primary scoring option. He also likes to play defense.
"I'm a fast-paced defensive player and a facilitator," Chiozza said. "But I can score pretty much at will because of my speed and athleticism. I'm pretty crafty, too."
Chiozza is also physical. He seeks out contact wherever possible and plays with little regard for what might happen to his 150 pound frame. It certainly catches opponents off guard.
"I think they see my height and my build and they think they are going to get me or block my shot or whatever," said Chiozza. "But, most of the time, I'm the one putting them on the ground."
With the recent increase in attention being shown to him thanks to his play with Memphis-based Team Thad, Chiozza has had to take another look at his recruitment. He'd been narrowing things down but all of the new offers have him re-thinking the process.
"I was never really close (to committing) but I was narrowing it down because I thought that was going to be all the offers I was going to get," he said. "Now I need to re-evaluate and take couple of visits to places like Florida, Ohio State and Butler and go from there."
Memphis has traditionally done very well with local kids and with the Tigers offering, some schools could be scared off. Chiozza says that it is a dream situation, but he has to think about things and leaving town could end up being the best thing for him.
"That's like a dream but you know what's best for me might not be in Memphis," Chiozza said. "I've got to really think about it.
"Right now I'm not sure. I kind of want to get out from home but I'm not sure yet."
