Memphis forward picks Mizzou

In today's era of recruiting coverage, it's almost impossible to keep a decision as secret as Johnathan Williams III managed to do heading into his Thursday evening announcement.
Affectionately known to his family and friends as J3, the 6-foot-9 senior at Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind effectively hid whether or not he would choose Georgetown, Michigan State, Missouri, Tennessee or George Mason -- where his brother J2 plays and where he quietly snuck in a visit over the weekend -- prior to his announcement that was live streamed on the network.
When it came time to announce, the No. 48 player in the class of 2013 selected Missouri, Georgetown, Michigan State, George Mason from the hats laid out in front of him and officially became a member of Frank Haith's Tigers.
"Mizzou is a great school," said Williams III as he donned a Tigers hat.
A long and fluid forward who can handle the ball some and is a good shot blocker, Williams III is a lean athlete who runs the floor. He is a good passer for his size, will rebound in and out of his area and has a body that can easily be built upon.
Over the past year or so, Williams III has been battling injuries and because of that his play has been a bit up and down. If his health has improved and he's become more consistent, he's got the tools to make a climb in the national rankings.
A four-star prospect, Williams III joins a class that already includes Rivals150 point guards Wesley Clark and Travis Jorgenson.
