Memphis forward picks Cincinnati

When Mick Cronin and his Cincinnati staff set out to assemble their 2011 recruiting class, finding a guy with length, upside and shot blocking ability was near the top of their list. Sunday, the Bearcats found exactly that in Octavious Ellis.
A lengthy and skinny 6-foot-9 power forward from Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven, Ellis is a kid who oozes upside.

He will run the floor, blocks shots and is emerging on the offensive end where he uses his quickness and bounce around the rim to make up for a lack of bulk.
His summer coach Williams Rhodes of Memphis Select sees a guy with immense upside.
"He just has a natural instinct for the basketball," Rhodes told Bearcatreport.com. "He is freakish athlete, athletic as they come. Shot-blocker, midrange jump shots, rebounder."
Ellis joins fifth year prep wings Ge'Lawn Guyn and Khristian Smith to make up the Bearcats 2011 recruiting class at this point.
