Memphis adds late piece to 2013 puzzle

It was only a little over week ago that Dominic Woodson and Baylor parted ways.

Just as quickly as he was back on the market, though, the four-star big men was off it again, thanks to a Wednesday night commitment to Memphis.
A 6-foot-9, 300-pounder who spent his senior season at Huntington (W.V.) Prep, Woodson is an interesting prospect.
He burst onto the scene the summer before his junior year and left his home in Texas for a prep school in Vermont. During his junior season and the summer of 2012, he was at his best.
Woodson dominated at time in the low post as both a scorer and a rebounder. His size, soft touch and mostly below-the-rim game made him easy to compare to Zach Randolph and there are many similar elements to their games.
As a senior at Huntington, Woodson often seemed a bit disinterested and battled with conditioning. Because of that, he didn't have the type of senior year expected from him and his ranking slid.
If Woodson commits himself to getting into shape and being a presence on both ends of the floor, he could end up being a much better than his ranking addition to the Memphis class.
He brings bulk, skill and sure hands. Bottom line, he's worth taking a chance on if you are Josh Pastner.
Woodson joins what is already the No. 3-ranked class of 2013. Five-star Austin Nichols headlines a group that inlcudes Kuran Iverson, Nick King, Markel Crawford and Rashawn Powell, who like Woodson, are all four-star prospects.
