Memphis adds junior college star

It's been a big couple of days for Memphis. A day after moving the Big East they added a guy who has the tools to help at that level.
Thursday afternoon, sources confirmed that Garden City (Kan.) Community College sophomore Geron Johnson picked the Tigers.

An athletic and strong 6-foot-4 guard, Johnson has taken a road to Memphis that is a bit off the beaten path.
A four-star prospect out of high school in Dayton, grades and some off the floor issues landed Johnson at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla.
During his freshman season at Chipola, Johnson put up big numbers but again ran into issues off the floor and spent time in jail of drug charges.
Now a sophomore, Johnson appears to have things on the right track and has enjoyed a big season at Garden City.
He can get to the rim, has a big time first step, is a powerful finisher, can slide over and play some at the one and is likely the top junior college prospect in the class of 2012.
Johnson joins a class that already includes McDonald's All-American Shaquille Goodwin and four-star wing Damien Wilson.
