The rumors floated around right away after 6-6 combo guard Sammy Mejia, a shifty 185-pounder from from Storm King Prep in Bear Mountain, New York, committed to DePaul. The rumors circulated in New York that Mejia was going to open up his process and change his mind about his commitment to DePaul.
But right now it looks like Mejia is a solid get for the hard-working DePaul staff. Mejia will take a return visit to DePaul this weekend. Mejia continues to state he is a solid commitment for DePaul and is only showing it more by taking an official visit there. Mejia previously had taken an unofficial visit and then made his verbal to the DePaul staff.
RivalsHoops.com's number 63 player in the class of 2003 had taken unofficial visits to DePaul, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Hofstra, and South Florida. He chose The Blue Demons over South Florida, Seton Hall, Syracuse, and Florida State.
Sammy has scored an 820 on the SAT, but still needs to fulfill his core requirements. The 19-year old native of The Bronx will play under former Army star Kevin Houston again this spring at Storm King.
