Meeks: a Young Star

The Georgia Stars are making some noise on the 16-under circuit as well as on the 17-under circuit. 2006 prospect Jodie Meeks is one of the top performers on the younger Stars team. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound combo guard from Roswell (Ga.) High School revealed his top five schools to RivalsHoops.com.
“It’s early, but right now I am most interested in Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina,” said Meeks. “I’d like to go to a place where I can play early and help the team right away. Style of play does not really matter, but I do want good academics.”

The 16-under Stars team has finished second at Boo Williams and third at the Kingwood, losing both times to the New York Gauchos.
Meeks, whose strength is scoring the ball, is working hard to bring his ball handling up to par with his shooting.
“I am really working on my ball handling and defense while I continue to get up a lot of jump shots,” he said. “Shooting is my strength. Defense is a strength also. I just want to get it better.”
Meeks has been invited to the prestigious Nike Hoop Jamboree in June.
