McRoberts leads East

In what eventually turned out to be a hotly contested game, the East held off the West 115-110 in the 28th annual McDonald's All American Game. The East was successful largely behind the efforts of three players, including the game's Most Valuable Player Josh McRoberts.
McRoberts recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in 24 minutes of play. He shot 7 of 8 from the field, going 2 of 3 from behind the arc.

Gerald Green electrified the crowd with a 24 point scoring burst on 6 of 9 shooting from behind the arc. Green also had one of the game's best highlights with a drive baseline for a dunk where it appeared that his head was rim level. He also knocked down two important free throws down the final stretch of the game.
The other key player for the East was Greg Paulus, who controlled the game with his leadership, ball handling and passing. Down the stretch, Paulus sank 7 out of 8 critical free throws to preserve the win. Paulus finished the night with 13 points and 9 assists with only one turnover.
Despite the strong first half efforts of Martell Webster and Julian Wright for the West, the East pummeled the West in the opening half and took a 65-43 lead to the locker room.
With 14 minutes left in the second half, however, the West had cut the lead to 80-71. The West's run was fueled largely by the hustle of Jon Brockman and the scoring of Mario Chalmers. The West was also aided by the poor play of the East's Eric Devendorf during that stretch.
Chalmers led the West in scoring with 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting. He also had 5 steals and 5 assists to go along with 3 turnovers.
Webster finished with 16 points on 6 of 15 shooting. He also had 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.
Tyler Hansbrough was tough on the glass finishing with 8 rebounds and 15 points.
Calvin Miles displayed his smooth stroke from the three-point line, going 3 of 5 from the arc for a total of 13 points.
The best overall performance for the West came from Julian Wright. With his frenetic, high energy style, Wright finished with 14 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals in 17 minutes of play. Wright went 7 of 9 from the field while consistently attacking the rim.
