McNamara Feeds The Big Man An MVP

TEANECK, NEW JERSEY -- When Syracuse bound point guard Gerry McNamara first stepped onto the court at FDU to play an ABCD pool game, he had just one thought -- get his team involved.
It was an unusual thought in today's me-me world of ball hogging at the summer camps. But this has always been McNamara's style -- team first, points second. Well, McNamara's effort was rewarded tonight when he was named to the All Star team at the ADIDAS ABCD camp.

Then McNamara promptly rewarded DeAngelo Collins several pretty feeds. Result? McNamara's team blows out the White team, 125-105. And Collins is named co-MVP.
McNamara was credited with five assists. However, we had him down with eight and there were several other assists that were never recorded because McNamara's teammates could not finish the deal.
Collins finished with 23 points and about half came of beautiful inside feeds from McNamara. Sharing MVP honors was Antonio Lawrence of the White team. Lawrence had 24 points.
"I am always interested in getting my team involved," McNamara said before the game. "Basketball is a team sport. You win when all five guys play together."
Helping the Red team beat the White team was also a great second half effort by Antoine Wright, who scored 16 points, all after halftime. Jason Fraser added 13 while Raymond Felton dropped in 12 points for the winners.
Chris Bosh played well again tonight. In a losing effort, he recorded 17 points. Sean Dockery and Steve Novak each scored 12 points a piece.
