As expected, three-star 2005 prospect Jack McGillis of Hellgate High School in Missoula, Mont., signed a Letter of Intent to play in the Pac-10. Not as expected, however, is that the 6-foot-6, 195-pound wing shooter will not be walking on at Washington.

Instead, McGillis took up a scholarship offer from Oregon State.
"I signed with Oregon State yesterday," said McGillis. "Since early May, they started showing more and more interest. I took an unofficial up there and liked everything about the situation. They offered a scholarship, so I took it."
McGillis, a sharp shooter with length, averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds per game during his senior season. He feels confident about his chances to contribute to the Beavers next season.
"They are thin at the wing, and from talking to the coaches, I can bring shooting, defense and athleticism to the team," he said.
McGillis, who was set for some time to attend Washington as a preferred walk on, found it very difficult to say no to the Washington program.
"It was definitely tough to turn down the opportunity at Washington," he said. "Washington has such a good program, but the difference was a full scholarship."
