McFarland leads Prospects to championship

The Real Deal on the Hill was not the only tournament going on this past weekend. In Las Vegas, Nev., there was the adidas Pump N Run Spring Tournament, which saw the hometown team Las Vegas Prospects take the championship. Leading the way for the Prospects was 6-foot-5, 205-pound small forward Andre McFarland.
"Andre was outstanding," said Coach Anthony Brown of the Las Vegas Prospects. "He really took it to Davon Jefferson of the H-Squad in the quarterfinals. Andre had him on his heals in the second half.

"Then in the semifinals, we should have beat the SoCal Razorbacks in regulation, but it took three overtimes. In the last one, we set up a play for Andre. Marcus Lawrence penetrated and got the ball to him, and Andre knocked it down to win the game."
In the finals, the Las Vegas Prospects defeated Canada Pump N Run by 15 points to win it all.
College coaches took notice of McFarland, who already had offers from Ole Miss and Western Illinois.
"Oregon State, Montana and UNLV have now offered," said Brown. "We have been told that Minnesota, USC and Washington are ready to offer. USC is coming in to visit soon, and we are expecting an offer then."
Coach Brown also noted the strong play of 2007 prospect Billy White.
"Everybody loves Billy," said Brown. "ABCD and the adidas Superstar camp both want him now. He is dunking, shooting and going by guys. He is doing everything you would want a 6-foot-7 sophomore to do."
