Louie McCroskey, the 6-3, 185-pound guard from St. Raymond's High School in Bronx, New York, is sorry to see his head coach leave for Richmond but looking forward to his senior year. St. Raymond's head coach Gary DeCesare took an assistant's job with the Spiders.

"I have a lot to look forward to," McCroskey said. "We have a good team back and I am looking forward to playing at Syracuse."
McCroskey has put on some more muscle and looks bigger. McCroskey scored 22 points in an AAU win this past weekend at the Hoop Group tournament held on the campus of Seton Hall. Initially, McCroskey's shot wouldn't fall in the first half but he got his game going in high gear during the second half.
McCroskey played several different positions for the New York Ravens AAU team. Sometimes he will bring up the ball. Other times he sits on the wing to be ready to finish in a fastbreak. But he is always around the ball. He is a big guard and very strong. "I am just trying to be the best player I can be no matter where I play," McCroskey said.
McCroskey chose Syracuse over Rutgers. McCroskey is excited about his situation next year with the Orangemen. The coaches and fans will love Louie because he has such a high level of intensity. And it's always used in a positive fashion.
McCroskey should fit in well with players like Billy Edelin and Gerry McNamara. McCroskey knows his role on the court and has basketball smarts. He rarely forces the issue. Look for a big year out of McCroskey. He is in excellent shape already for the tough CHSAA season ahead. McCroskey will continue to play with the St. Raymond's team at a tournament this upcoming weekend. This site will have coverage of the event next weekend.
