McCoy Dishing It Out

Although small in stature, 5-foot-11, 150-pound point guard Ryan McCoy loaded up the assist column with some big numbers for Madison High School in Houston, Texas. Several schools have taken notice of the 2005 prospect's abilities.
"Right now Stanford, UNLV, DePaul, Houston, Morgan State, Colorado State, and Lamar are showing me early interest,” said McKoy, who averaged 14 points and 13 assists per game this season. “I'm still wide open. I don't have any particular schools I'm looking at. I just want to have a strong summer, and I think my recruitment will pick up."

Although McCoy would love to have early playing time like most prospects, playing for a winner is of more importance.
"I'd like to play early in college, but if not, I'll just wait my turn,” he said. “I just want to go to a good school and have a chance to play in the NCAA tournament. I want to go to a place that I'm happy with and where I think I'll fit in."
Despite McCoy’s ability to penetrate and find the open man, Madison High struggled this year, ending with a record of 10-13. McKoy is hoping things will turn around for Madison next year.
"I think my greatest strength is getting to the basket and either finishing or dishing it off to my teammates for an easy basket,” he said. “I try to be a good floor general, like a coach on the floor. We didn't have a real goods season but have some good players coming back. So I'm looking towards a great year next year."
"I need to get stronger and get a little bigger. I also need to work on pulling up off the dribble. I am jumping rope to get my feet quicker to help me on the defensive end. I plan on working hard this summer. This is my last year, so I don't want to have any regrets."
