McClure: ND Still Leads

Dave McClure, a 6-6, 200 pound small forward from Trinity Catholic H.S. in Stamford, Connecticut, told us that the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame still lead. "I had a great trip to Notre Dame," McClure told RivalsHoops.com last night. "I enjoyed the visit. I like the coaches and players. It's a great school too."
McClure told us he isn't close to making a decision. "I plan on visiting Duke on February 28th," he said. "I am also interested in Virginia, Villanova, Connecticut, NC State, Florida State, Stanford, and Pittsburgh."

McClure, who hails from Ridgefield, Conn., has also taken unofficial visits to Notre Dame, Villanova and UConn. McClure plays primarily in the paint for Trinity Catholic, where he averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks per contest as a sophomore in 2001-2002.
Playing his more natural position of small forward or swingman, McClure shined this past summer and fall for Jimmy Salmon's Playaz basketball program. He helped the Playaz capture the crown at the prestigious Charlie Weber Tournament last October.
McClure is a very well rounded basketball player who has great natural instincts for rebounding the ball. He is an alert passer and boasts a solid midrange shooting stroke. "I am working hard to improve all parts of my game," said McClure, who is likely to receive some consideration next year for the McDonald's All American game.
