McCants, Konovelchick Rally New Hampton

Turnaround is fair play in the prep school ranks.
After Winchendon handed New Hampton its first loss of the season earlier this month, the Huskies returned the favor on Tuesday afternoon, dealing the Green Wave a 103-96 defeat at the New Hampton School.

Just a few weeks earlier, Winchendon had defeated the Huskies on its home turf in Massachusetts. At the time, it was a battle of unbeaten squads.
New Hampton led 78-68 with about seven minutes left, but the Green Wave whittled the lead down to two points in the final minute. However, the Huskies converted their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the victory.
Mike Konovelchick, a 6-4, 195 pound postgrad, led New Hampton with 29 points, three rebounds and four assists. UNC bound swingman Rashad McCants added 22 points and seven rebounds, while 6-5, 210 pound power forward Mike Clarke added 20 points and eight boards for the winners.
Wes Miller, New Hampton's steady point guard, racked up 18 points and 10 assists for the Huskies, who improved to 17-1 with the win.
The teams might meet again next month at the New Hampton Invitational in New Hampshire, and later on at the NEPSAC Tournament in Massachusetts.
