Power point guard Demetri McCamey landed a No. 51 ranking in the pre-summer Rivals150, and he continues to pick up momentum as a prospect. Although he has picked up more offers since May, McCamey, 6-foot-3, 215-pounds and from St. Joseph's High School in Westchester, Ill., is now working with a short list of five schools.
"My short list is Wake Forest, Indiana, Michigan, DePaul and Illinois," said McCamey. "Everyone but Illinois has offered. They are waiting to see what Derrick Rose is going to do. Georgia Tech and Boston College have also offered since the TOC."
Familiar with Illinois and DePaul due to his proximity to their campuses, McCamey does plan to officially visit Wake Forest, Indiana and Michigan.
Although McCamey has a number of schools pursuing him, Connecticut is one school that McCamey would love to recruit him harder. At this point he is only receiving mail from the Huskies.
Rivals.com will next scout McCamey at the NBA Players Top 100 Camp next week.
Demetri McCamey scouting report:
Establishing himself as a true point guard after moving over from the off guard position, McCamey has unique size and playmaking ability. He has the combination of strength, speed and craftiness to get to wherever he needs with the ball. Also, defends and rebounds his position well.
