Maxwell Set For UMASS

Last week, head coach Steve Lappas and his assistants nailed down a commitment from 2003 prospect Maurice Maxwell, a quick and long 6-5, 180 pound swingman from Lutheran Christian Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Maxwell is a player who can score points in bunches. He had been looked at during his recruiting process by Memphis, George Washington, Oklahoma State, and San Jose State.

Maxwell is a lanky and fast player who thrives in up tempo settings. His long extension aids him in finishing on forays to the bucket. He will need to improve his strength. When he does, Maxwell will be able to finish more effectively. But he is certainly capable of helping Massachusetts out right away with his offensive skills.
Maxwell took an unofficial trip to George Washington back on Aug. 5. Others previously in the mix included UMass, St. Bonaventure, Illinois, Florida State, Washington, James Madison, Coppin State and Siena. However, many of these schools have nailed down other commitments.
This past season at Celestial/Philadelphia Prep, Maxwell averaged 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
