Maurice Maxwell Signs

Maurice Maxwell, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from Lutheran Christian Academy in Philadelphia, PA, finally signed his letter of intent with Massachusetts. Maxwell had first given a verbal commitment to Steve Lappas' program but then backed away a couple of weeks ago. He did sign his letter of intent and sent it in to the Massachusetts program, according to a source close to Maxwell.

Lutheran head coach Darryl Schofield previously told RivalsHoops.com that Maxwell was also interested in Miami (FL) and Nebraska. Indiana head coach Mike Davis had also taken a look at Maxwell at the Charlie Weber tournament three weeks ago. However, the Hoosiers did not offer.

Maxwell is a big catch for the Massachusetts program. He can score from anywhere on the court. Maxwell also has the ability to carry a team on his back offensively. Over the past couple of years, RivalsHoops.com watched Maxwell play many times. He is an impressive offensive player who should be able to help the Minutemen team as a freshman.
