Matthews to enroll at Pac-10 school next week

It's never too late to pick up a player. Christopher Matthews, a class of 2005 guard, is headed West and will play in the Pac-10. The Philadelphia Lutheran product made his decision on Tuesday afternoon and he'll jump on a cross country flight next week and enroll in his freshman courses.
Matthews told Rivals.com that he committed to Washington State on Tuesday. He'll leave his D.C. area home next Thursday and make the trip to Pullman, Wash., and begin his college career.

The coaching staff made a big impression on the sharpshooter.
"(Assistant) coach (Tony) Bennett is a really cool guy. I like him a lot as a coach and as a person," Matthews said.
Matthews had a sensational showing in Las Vegas at the Big Time tournament, connecting on nine three-pointers against en route to 27 points against Spiece Indy Heat. The Cougars made sure they were at every game, Matthews said.
"They were actually recruiting me before Las Vegas. They were one of the firsts," Matthews said.
With offers from Providence, Massachusetts and Tennessee, Matthews said it was a difficult decision but felt like he could make the biggest impact with Washington State.
"I see myself getting better every year I'm out there," Matthews said. "I'm ready to go."
