Mason Lifts Value After Three Stripes

The Illinois Fire made a great run at the Three Stripes tournament this past weekend. One of the main reasons was 6-5, 200-pound swingman Dameon Mason, who had some electrifying baskets during the several games he played.
Mason, who hails from West Aurora High School in Aurora, Illinois, seems to have a knack for scoring, especially on spinning and twisting drives to the basket. He did show some range on his jumper but Mason seemed very effective in using his dribble to bounce inside and score over the big people in the lane.

Mason told us he is already qualified academically. "I scored a 20 on the ACT," he said. "I have been hearing from Big Ten and Big 12 schools mainly."
Mason listed Texas, Colorado, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Illinois, Marquette and Memphis. "There are others, I just have to get home and see who is seriously interested," Mason told us.
It's likely that when Mason does get back home, he will have many schools ringing up his private line. "I want to go to a school that has a good academic situation," Mason said. "Distance won't decide it for me. No matter where that school is if it's the right one for me, I will go there."
