A few weeks ago it was a little-known -- but full of potential -- local big who popped for the Terps in Damonte Dodd.
Thursday, though, the Terps scored with a more well-known player when four-star Charles Mitchell made a commitment after an official visit to College Park according to several sources familiar with his recruitment.
Wide bodied and strong in the post, the 6-foot-8 Mitchell has just completed a strong career at Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler.
The four-star prospect is a crafty scorer around the rim who is comfortable using either hand. Because of his high energy level on the floor, he's also a very good rebounder and doesn't mind initiating contact or letting his emotions show during the course of a game.
Currently ranked No. 76 nationally in the Rivals150, Mitchell joins a class that already includes the aforementioned Dodd, four-star center Shaquille Cleare, Rivals150 combo forward Jake Layman and three-star shooting guard Seth Allen.
